Preparation for Adulthood

At Springfields we prepare our learners for life beyond the classroom with a bold and purposeful Preparation for Adulthood curriculum. From EYFS to Year 11, students follow a developmental framework that builds essential skills for life, independence, and confidence setting them up for success in further education, employment, and independent living. Every step is designed to unlock potential and open doors to a bright future.

Preparation for adulthood starts from the beginning of the school journey. All learners follow a bespoke Preparation for Adulthood curriculum which has discrete, timetabled lessons. Preparation for Adulthood is composed of 7 areas:
- My Social Self
- My Independence
- My Travel
- My Play and Leisure
- My Learning
- My Safety
- My Personal Care and Health

Our Preparation for Adulthood curriculum is underpinned by the Governments Preparation for Adulthood agenda which is a framework used to support young people in developing the skills, confidence and knowledge to transition into fulfilling adult life. It focuses on four main areas:
- Employment
- Independent living
- Community Inclusion.
- Health
