Residential Public Consultation
Residential Provision at Springfields Academy
The purpose of this consultation is to elicit views on the potential closure of residential provision at Springfields Academy.
Springfields Academy is a large 5-19 special school for pupils with a diagnosis of autism. The provision is split over two sites within Wiltshire. One in Calne (170 pupils) and a smaller satellite in Salisbury for 40 pupils.
The schools residential provision is based at Springfields North in Calne and offers 5 day, 39 week residential care for up to 10 pupils (aged 10-16). The Springfields residential provision is inspected under the national minimum standards and is currently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (March, 2022).
Our current residential funding agreement runs to August 31st 2022. However, the school has been given notice that this funding agreement will not be renewed. As a result, the school is considering its next steps, which includes closure.
This potential closure of residential provision will affect some pupils, parents and carers. As a result we are consulting with you as stakeholders to ascertain your thoughts and feelings on this potential closure from Sept 1st 2022.
Further information to support this summary can be requested via email@example.com or by accessing the school website and clicking on the ‘residential’ tab and viewing the document named ‘residential public consultation’.
